What are Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners are an alternative way to straighten your teeth. They consist of orthodontic aligners that are a series of custom made trays that will be worn to align the teeth. The trays are delivered every 2-3 weeks until the series is complete and you are happy with your smile. The length of time to complete the series of trays depends on the severity of the case.
There are two brands of clear aligners used at Kinizsi Dental Office. Clear Correct and Invisalign are both considered as options as they may provide different ways of straightening teeth
Limitations of Clear Aligners
While clear aligners can correct most dental issues, not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign or Clear Correct. Invisalign and Clear Correct technology cannot correct severe malocclusion or severely misaligned bites. Aligners are not always an effective method of moving and aligning teeth in the back of the mouth, especially when there are gaps.
Traditional braces are still considered an ideal method of moving deeply rooted molar teeth. The benefit of removable aligners is also a drawback as the ability to remove them creates the likelihood of misplacing the plastic tray or lack of wear, potentially prolonging their wear time.
