Comprehensive Exams Near You
No matter how diligent you are with your daily oral care routine, the persistent development of plaque can make the teeth vulnerable to the onset of tooth decay without regular dental exams. Regular visits to your dental office are key as the mouth is the window to your overall health. Many illnesses can first appear within the mouth before developing within the body. Receiving a dental exam once a year, at a minimum, is critical in catching problems early on when they are easier to treat.
What to Expect During an Oral Exam
During an oral examination, Dr.Kinizsi will initially conduct a visual examination before performing a more detailed exam. The detailed exam includes the use of 360-degree panoramic radiographic imaging and oftentimes, an intra-oral camera, to help detect any irregularities in the mouth. Some of the dental issues this comprehensive oral exam detects are the following:
- Early signs of cavities
- Damaged, missing, or decayed teeth
- Recession in gum or bone
- Inflammation or signs of gum disease
- Early signs of mouth or throat cancer
- The function of temporomandibular joint
- Deterioration of teeth due to an abnormal bite, bruxism, or TMJ
- Existing crowns, fillings, bridgework, root canals
- The general condition of bones in your face, jaw, and near the mouth
