Why Could You Need Root Canal Treatment?
Root canal treatment or endodontic treatment is required when the pulp inside the tooth becomes infected. The inflammation can be caused by a variety of factors: deep decay, multiple procedures performed on the tooth or a crack/chip in the tooth that goes untreated. A tooth that has been fractured can cause pulp damage even if it is not directly visible. If an infection goes untreated for a long period of time, you will experience pain and ultimately it leads to an abscess. Root canal treatment (RCT) is recommended to avoid/ prevent a tooth from being extracted and maintain the integrity of your smile and bone.
